Graphic Overlays & Membrane Switches

Graphic overlays provide a very important visual marketing aspect for your product identification needs. Enhance your product identification with a graphic overlay displaying vibrant color, functionality, and durability. Incorporate features like clear or tinted windows, selectively applied adhesive or selectively printed texture, die cutting, embossing and more. Graphic overlays are typically screen printed or UV cured digitally printed. Polycarbonate Overlays

Polycarbonate overlays are typically cheaper and easier to work with than Polyester. Polycarbonate overlays are available in optically clear or velvet textured finishes. At any thickness, they provide a clean tailored look of your printed graphics. If the application is subject to harsh environment, a hard-coated polycarbonate should be specified or a change to a polyester substrate might be the better choice for protection and durability. Polycarbonate may be lower in cost than polyester, but its end use and longevity need to be considered when choosing.

Polyester Graphic Overlays

Polyester is thinner but more resilient, available in smooth and textured surfaces as well. It also has superior properties with resistance to heat, chemical exposure, and harsh environments. Polyester is a more expensive than polycarbonate, but its durability is unmatched, and it will certainly outlast polycarbonate it in many environments or in circumstance of excessive hands on use.

Custom Membrane Switches and Keypads

MFG Labeling provides custom membrane switches fabricated to spec that take advantage of all the latest technologies to provide you with a finished product meant to last for years. Switches not only provide user interface for control panels, but they are also a very important visual marketing aspect for your product identification. A membrane switch everyone can relate to is the keypad interface on your kitchen microwave. This graphic overlay not only provides product identification but becomes part of the printed assembly for a conductive electrical circuit providing interface between the user and the equipment. Membrane switches generally consists of two polyester films that are screen printed with a conductive ink to create the electrical circuit layers of the membrane switch. A spacer, which is die cut with relief points, is then sandwiched between the two circuits. This spacer keeps the electrical circuits in the open position. The die-cut relief areas permit the pressing of the finger to close the contacts between the layers resulting in a closed electrical circuit providing power to its end source. Upon release, the circuit returns to its open position preventing the electrical connection. Membrane switches can be designed with soft touch buttons, or they can be designed with tactile snap domes to create the sound and feel for positive feedback every time a button is pressed.
